It is an inspiring movie that is a good entry point for learning about climate change and it explains the urgency that surrounds this issue. Al Gore explains how we already have all of the technology needed to address our problems and that there are very, very simple changes that will make big differences. There are controversial time lines that frame the future of the climate crisis, one being that starting in about for thirty to fifty years, things on our Earth could become quite difficult. If that is true, then my thoughts run like this, my actions will not create havoc for me, but will for my children. If this premise is incorrect and we all go to the expense and trouble of reducing our personal and collective pollution, then the consequences will be that we will hand over to our children a planet with cleaner air, rivers and oceans, and happier (living) animals. We at Majestic Velvets strive to have as little impact on the environment as possible. We use post consumer recycled paper, package with as little waste as possible, use 85% recycled boxes, recycle all used paper, boxes, plastic and glass. We have replaced light bulbs. Doesn't seem like much, but a little goes a long way. We have our fabrics and supplies shipped by UPS as often as possible to reduce sending our vehicles to Los Angeles, and we have switched to high gas mileage vehicles like Prius and Civic. We offer organic cotton peasant dresses and organic cotton chemises. The cotton is much more expensive, but we will try our best to keep the cost down (of course). Hopefully we can expand our organic cotton line as demand grows. We do not wrap the costumes in plastic or paper, so if you require that, we can upon request. |
